Mountain

The mountain is steep
Never stopping
Climbing through wind,
Climbing
Scaling many rocks,
Scaling
Trying as it might
To hold me back
Trudging through obstacles,
Trudging
Failing many a time,
Failing
But never, ever stopping
Reaching new heights
Reaching
Keep pushing forward
Keep moving along
Keep climbing my mountain
Though it never stops
Keep climbing through

  1. Karen, I really liked how you repeated the last word in some of lines. Did you do that to make the meaning sink in? I really enjoyed this poem!

  2. I think the message is really clear. Don't be too afraid that the reader will get lost. There is a joy as a reader, when we are able to meet the author halfway, and bring ourselves to the work. The experience of reading makes the text richer when both author and reader bring their experiences to play; it is twice as rich.

  3. I love this poem! It has a great meaning, and I could see what you were trying to display in the poem. I think I could have told without the explanation... but I like how you did explain it.
    Great job on this poem!

  5. This is really cool! I liked the way you repeated the first words of a few sentences for emphasis.
